I have lowered the complete team(6 big guys and 10 little max's) to $60usd plus shipping. And sets(one big guy monster and his max buddy) to $12usd plus shipping.
Been awaile, I know. We had a long winter and a too short summer, and here we are;at the tail end of 2017 already!

I wanted to stop by and tell you all about a new Kickstarter my dear friend Fabio, owner/operator of GASPEZ-ARTS, has set to start in a very few hours from now. It is a fantastic new Chaos Dwarf team going by the name of Bull Warriors!

The team harkens back to the "Big Hat" days of the now defunct GW style Chaos Dwarves. But thats about the only thing they share in common, as these ain't your momies Chaos Dwarves!

They are much more dynamic and Modern. The sculpts are by renowned designer Raffaele Stumpo, and man, does he bring an old concept to wide awake life! I've included a few pic's to get you interested, and I think they look ace:
These are just the beginning. There will be a full team of fresh new sculpts and I for one look forward to the Hobgoblins! In fact, I am running a all Hobgoblin side in our new league, and I am having to use the tired GW Hob's. I beg you Fabio! Have your man make plenty of Hobgoblins so I can retire the GW figures to the depths of the boxes!

The Kickstater starts on September 5th, and the "early" bird special Fabio has in place will only be for the first day! So get over to the GASPEZ-ARTS FACEBOOK and check it.

Seriously boys, Fabio has ALWAYS helped out when I was running my event the Mike Kriger Memorial Cup. In fact, he was the main supporter. Year after year, the man helped when other people/companies sometimes did'n even return my emails. Fabio is a kind man, and he took interest in our event. He can hang his hat on that.

Lets all support the man and his new venture. It looks like its gonna be a good one!bound for gloryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13751036438597283777noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1598219290435749873.post-64261874790459502742017-04-25T16:57:00.001+01:002017-04-25T16:57:54.462+01:00NAF Championship? #BringTheFling17

Hi everyone!

As you probably know, in a very few days we'll have another NAF Championship is coming up (29th and 30th April 2017)!
As always, a great deal of fun and madness is expected to occur in one of the most prestigious and notorious Blood Bowl tournaments of the year.

Following along the "fun and madness" theme...
A bunch of tough lads from TFF decided to continue this <strike>lunacy</strike> tradition of gathering the best of the best to coach in the NAF Champs, and field a team of mighty Halflings!

Personaly it has been a rather long and tough year for me, but hobby wise - and fortunatly for those who love Bloodbowl, it has been a very interesting and eventfull year!
A new boxed set has been out, the rules remain mostly the same, and to add to it GW seems to be producing yet again new miniatures and dice to the game we all love so much.
Of course each of us might have a different idea of what it would have liked to see GW do with the boxed set - be it different races in the box or a different sized pitch, but I'm sure everyone would agree that the future of the game never looked so bright in the past 10 or more years.

And now, a few updates that SHOULD HAVE been done long ago but unfortunatly didn't:

- APES OF WRATH
Remember that cool project to create a Symyin Bloodbowl team, that even got miniatures casted, and ended up earning a spot in FUMMBL, with Star Players and all?
Early in the year, the awsome gentlemen from THREE DIE BLOCK podcast did a fluff contest for this same team, and I was one of the proud winners of a complete Symyin resin team!
I've always loved to fluff up my Bloodbowl teams, and this trully was a great oportunity to participate in one of the coolest team projects I've seen in a ong while.
Kudos to Chance and Drew for enjoying my entry.

Have a peek at my entry HERE if you will.

As for the team I got, after adding some shoulder pads on the players, off to the paint station they went, and a couple weeks later they were ready to take on the NABBO League season XIV!
Here the team discussing the tactics for their league assault!

- BOTH DOWN podcast...

During the year, theres been quite a few times I have changed emails with BOTH DOWN ginger crew Steve and Scott, sometimes asking for a few more details about some piece of the latest podcast, others just sharing some bloodbowl league experience.
One of those chats ended up in SWAG talk, and the fine gents from "The #1Podcast... hosted by gingers" kindly sent me some of the great dice they produce every year for the apparently endless stream of tournaments they comish!

Awesome SWAG from awesome guys. Keep it up!

As I've had the chance to mention a few times in past posts, we at NABBO League enjoy playing a bunch of other games between our official league competitions.
It's a nice way to get to know other games, put to use some of the non-bloodbowl related miniatures we all have, and have a good time amongst friends.
All while scheming and plotting for the next NABBO league competition of course!

One of those games we play, is a home version of Dungeonbowl - a very short version of it where several coaches may play at the same time, each controlling a big guy, and as in other DB type games, each has the herculean task of finding the ball hidden in the chest, and carry it safely to his end zone, all this while the opposition tries to stop it anyway they can - including throwing chests at each other...

Anyway, I did a post a few years back, with a WIP photo report of the building of the dungeon, and in that report I mention a couple of fellow Talk Fantasy Football mates, over their own forum threads on Dungeon Bowl.
One of them - yggdrasil, has recently put together most of the info he had in that really long thread in TFF, joined a ton of other photos and info about the game, and made a fantastic web site with it:

DUNGEONBOWL : ASTROGRANITE EDITION

In there you can find and download several rules pdfs (from the 1989 original ones, to his own adaptation to them), read fluff and game reports, and last but by no means least see photos of his beautifully converted and painted teams for many colleges of magic, along with quite a few extra stars, monsters, and a ton of other stuff that crawls in Dungeonbowl dungeons!
Awesome.
The year of the Wizard!

As some of you - followers of the ways of NABBO Tea Cup - might already have read in the past, in order to give each NTC tournament a different feel from league games and an extra layer of fun, the organization of the tournament usually adds some house rule to the otherwise fairly regular team tournament builds.
This year the 'little extra house rule' was a free wizard for each team, which instead of the usual Zaping or Fireballing of the opposing players, could make use of proper spell books and attempt to transform the opposing players into frogs! How could it be any funnier than that?

The rules for all these wizards and spells where quite simple, starting with an 2D6 of 8+ as an "activation roll" for the wizard (fluff wise aka "let's check if the wizard is paying any attention to the game..."), and if that went ok, the coach had another d6 roll of 4+ to actually turn an opposing player into a frog or alternatively reverse one of his "frog-players" to the regular "player" (the "frog" was randomly chosen amongst the players on the pitch).
If the coach was lucky enough to roll a "6" on this last roll, he was allowed to repeat this roll and try to transform a second opposing player into a frog.
This could go as far as three players maximum (which was as much "frog-players" as each team could have on the pitch at the same time).

The frog
The "frog-player" was treatd like any other player, with this profile: MA 5, ST 2, AG 4, AV 6. Skills: No Hands, Dodge, Side Step and
Right Stuff. Also, the armour was considered magical so any injury roll of 8+ would KO the player instead of any other nastiness.

(For more information on the house rules please have a look at NABBO Tea Cup V in the NABBO League blog).

The tournament

Despite the low number of participants (only six this time), the event was still a lot of fun and for the first time we had the grand total of two ladies playing - more than 33% of our tournament crew, which is a lot more than many big tournaments out there can brag about!
(Yes, just having a bit of fun with maths...)

As far as team choices go, we had Amazons (x2), Chaos Dwarf, Lizardmen, Slann and Vampire, and a combined total of 49 "frogged" players, over the course of nine games.

The Prizes
To commemorate for the fifth NTC, instead of the usual three awards - Champion, Most Casualties and Wooden Spoon, the organization had decided to go for five, adding the Most TD's and Best Defence (least TD's suffered).
Since we "share the wealth" by not giving more than one award to any coach, this meant that this year almost everyone coach took an award home (which is fine since our objective is to have a good time while playing Bloodbowl).

This year I've played Chaos Dwarf and was lucky enough to win the Champion award (started with a lucky last turn 1-1 tie against Amazons which kept me in the race for the upper places, won 2-0 my second game against Lizard - the team that won the Most Casualties; and won 3-0 my last game against a Slann - which was undefeated that far, and ended up winning the Most TD's).
The Most Casualties award was won by Iuliia, one of the ladies playing in the tournament (a rookie player both on our league and on the tourney scene).
The Wooden Spoon was conquered by Marco Preto - his second WS in a row (last year won it Humans and this time with Amazons), which is quite amazing since is one of the best players in our league, so we can only speculate why on earth Nuffle keeps poking him on our tournaments...

Last but not least...
Here's a pic of the custom dugout and dice we've made for the tourney, so if you like them and feel like supporting us, we might still have a few of those extra.
How say, boys? Been awhile...

I hope everyone had a good summer. seems like I was just sitting in the heat 2 days ago, LOL!
Well, its tourney time in our little corner of pa. we are getting set for the Mike Kriger Memorial CUP, on Saturday October 31st. it will be held at the Nesquehoning rec center, from 10am until its done.

This year, we will have the new set of "wild things" models, Douglas and Max#2. New figures are always fun, and we are very proud of these new figures from ace miniature man, Rykar. He did a great job bringing these monsters to life.

By now, most here know the story about our event and the figures we have bought to the game. my cousin mike, was killed in the fighting in Afghanistan. He was my best friend, and he was a founding member of our gaming group, The Thursdaynight Hero's. To say that his death left a hole in many peoples lives would be an understatement. Mike was a kind person, always ready to help a friend as well as a stranger. he sadly left behind a wife and little girl.
This year, we are hoping to surpass the $300 mark with donations to the Wounded Warrior Fund. this organization is set up to help our vets who may need help. Services like mental and physical therapy, service dogs, housing, and things like that.
We know mike would be proud.

If you'd like more info on our event, please feel free to contact me. Our tourney is for beginners, so don't expect "NAF" level game play, but the point of the event is just to play blood bowl and have fun doing it.
If you can't make it, and would like a set of these limited miniatures, they are $20usd per set, and a portion of the sales go to the Wounded Warrior Fund.
I only wish we could do more, or I wish I could give one of those big fake checks, just for the LULZ!
A great chance to practice and then maybe make some tweaks to team and/or skill selection. Teams of three, different races, six games over two days and as I said using the Wc ruleset. The sole difference really apart from number of players on a team being two days instead of three so each 'day' of the WC will be represented by two games.

Peter (Chaos Pact) and I (High Elf) will be joined by Phillipe (Amazons). After a bit of thinking and a total rethink following it being pointed out to me that I had misread the rules and could not have a star player I settled on the following:

2 blitzers , 4Catchers, 2 Throwers, 3 Linemen, 2rr and an apothecary.

All well and good but when I went to the figure cabinet I realised I only have two catchers. No time to order or eBay any extras I decided to convert a third (why did I have three?) blitzer and one of my many linemen. Here are the results:

Almost one year and a half ago, here in Merry Mayhem News blog, we started a couple articles featuring Bound For Glory bloodbowl tourney, the "Mike Krieger memorial Cup", and the lovely set of limited edition miniatures that he and his crew (The Thursday Night Heroes) have put together for the event: here, and here!

The selling of those, aside from helping funding the tourney, also had the grand objective of providing a donation to be handed over to the pa's fallen soldier fund.
(I obviously could not pass the opportunity to have a go at painting this such exquisite pair too - here - besides I reeeeeeeally loved the movie).

So what's new, you may ask?
As promised back then by BFG, and once again with the help of Rykar (the sculptor), they have another set "on the forge".
This time it's "Doug", the big guy who gets the (well deserving) spotlight, but rest assured that he will also have the company of Max (and yes, a differently sculpted version of our little friend "Max").

Here's a photo of their greens, as found on the "wild thing #2 coming soon" post in TFF.

Too cool to be truth?
By all means, click on the thread link above and go check it out your self!

And yes, start putting a few coins aside to get them when they get out, they deserve it!

With the new season of the NABBO League well on it's way (XIII by the way), I finally get some free minutes to write a few of lines about the new team I'm playing this season...

Since NABBO League early days, and in order to cope with the limited availability of time to play that a good part of our coaches always had/have, we decided that a perpetual format would suit better our interests, allowing even the most busiest of the coaches, to drop by less regularly, and still have a team to join the fun with the rest of the crew.
Obviously, along the way, many coaches decided to pull the plug on their teams for plenty of the usual reasons (untimely death of team stars being one of the main), and so, with very few exceptions, every third or fourth season the teams ended up being "naturally" renewed.

In the end of the last season (while commemoration the 15 year anniversary of the league), it was decided to "reset and start over" the perpetual format, and with it, make some changes in the league rules, namely the MVP given in the end of the game (it used to be a coach choice, and became random).

Now, I always try to grab these opportunities to either start something new, or actually complete one of the projects that I always seem to have going on, and so, after some thought into it, I opted for this Undead team that I had converted a couple of years ago, but never got the chance or time to paint.

Most of the positionals are converted from leftover bits (from different GW sprues) and some green stuff to tie all together. The Ghouls are from GW fantasy (straight forward weapon snip), and the Werewolves are from West Wind (that I decided to include to allow me to change the team from Undead to Necro, if wanted in the future).

Here are the photos of the team positionals, prior to their paint job:
She will also be representing Bertha Bigfist ogress star, in NABBO League table top league, and if you're curious about what her original BB stats where, here they are:

As previously announced on the blog, this past Sunday NABBO Tea Cup
tournament has managed to get most of it's league crew together, for
yet another super day, with abusive loads of BB chitchat, miniature
showcase and dice rolling cursing.
As usual, a great fun time, and
a wonderful opportunity to mingle with NABBO League old timers, that
real life tends to keep away from each other.

This
forth edition of the tournament had yet another amazing milestone to
point out, our BB league 15th anniversary! (You know our motto: "Failing
Go-For-It's since 1999", well, just do the math...)

For
that very special reason, the tournament organization decided that this
year's custom dice had to be somehow special, so what better way to
represent that than make them "golden"?
Kudos to Chessex for them, as they are plain lovely, and the engraving is fantastic - as usual.

The
only downside this year, was that we had a couple of friends that had
previous commitments, therefore couldn't attend to the tournament, and
since we're such a small league, any missing coach is heavily noticed.
Apart from that, it was a bright and sunny Sunday and a great gaming
environment, and that's what matter the most.

The games
This
year, most "fineness" races forgot - or cowered - to show up. Since we
had a tournament thematic house rule that would make two big stones
move, randomly, in the pitch during the match, that would auto-blitz
anyone in their path, that may have scared the pointy ears away.
(You can spot those "drifting stones" in the pics below: they're big, sand-yellow, and moved everywhere on the pitch. Beware!)

Being
quite busy with the initial logistics of the tournament, I completely
forgot to have pics taken from the first round of the tournament, so,
the following images are from the the second and third rounds
respectively...
Playing in a Swiss system tournament (winners facing each other) the tough Ostrok Iceclaws (Norse) faced another first round winners, the Kraka Drak Dozers
(Dwarf). An rampaging start from the OI, granted them the opening TD
around turn 4, after an amazing pass (the norse thrower marked by two
dwarfs), to a catch skilled runner (also marked by two
opponents), that managed to dodge out and score in the same play.
Unfortunately for the norse, the 4 final turns of the drive saw the
dwarves KOd and Injure a handful of the Iceclaws, and equalising before
the end of the half.
With three players missing in the pitch, and
an Icetroll that refused to cooperate every other turn, the OI where
unable to hold the Dozers for their 2nd half advance, and ended up
loosing the game by 2-1 TD (Cas 3-0).
After
a 1-1 draw in their first game, the zons entered the pitch with the
right attitude, managing to score first, and then, even after the
Troopers tied the game, the BF did score again.
But as the turns
went by, so did some of the Black Ferns (to the Injured box), and being
really outnumbered in the final turns had costed them another tie (2-2)
Cas (0-2).

In the last round of the day, and playing for the Wooden Spoon (or away from it), the Ulric
Uber Alles (Human), faced another human team, The Troopers. Plenty of loose balls, and back&forward playsended up with a win for the UUA by 3-1TD (0-2 Cas).

Rumours say that Nuffle
kept a very watchful eye on The Troopers team during the whole event,
making sure the Wooden Spoon wouldn't go anywhere else: bad dice rolls
were a constant since round one (with the team finishing the game with
only one player on the pitch), right until the last round (when every
single dodge or pass attempt would result in a complete fail).

The tournament was won by the Kraka Drak Dozers (Dwarf), which in their last match faced the Mandelbrot Marauders (Chaos Pact), both aiming to win the Most Casualties trophy right from the start.

Despite
the astonishing feat of achieving 12 Cas during the three tournament
games (an absolute record for all NTC tournaments), the KDD dwarfs where
denied their trophy because in the complex process of maiming their
opponents, they ended up winning all their games thus winning the
tournament!

Faithful to the "Spread the Wealth"
tournament rule, the organization allotted the Most Casualties trophy
to the second best at mangling opponents: the Mandelbrot Marauders!

The countdown clock is already ticking for this year's NABBO Tea Cup, the fourth edition of the tourney...

Scheduled for next Sunday, the NABBO League crew tournament still is a good few hours away, and already both teams and coaches are psyching themselves for the most enjoyable (yet very disputed) competition of the season.

This years tournament is taking place in the scorching hot lands of the glorious city-state of Kheente-Khefartha (a fictional Khemri city name with a Portuguese pun to mean something like "as hot as is gets"). Despite all the apparent nonsense of having a sports competition in such an "unfriendly" environment, an well orchestrated press conference gracefully informed all journalists and sports fans that this was a small sacrifice to a greater good: to encourage and develop the beautiful game of Bloodbowl, in the rich, endlessly rich lands of Kheente-Khefartha.
(Any similarities with this fictional theme, and real life sports, is a pure coincidence... perhaps.)

And while you wait for the report of the event, how about to have a peek of the previous editions of the NTC?
You can check them right here, just click on the link: NTC '11, NTC '12, and NTC '13.
Eurobowl 2014 is this weekend, along with the largest Euro Open ever held it promises to be awesome. Last year I was selected to represent Wales and this year I will be doing so again. Unfortunately real life has severely curtailed my blood bowl related activities so, for example, I never finished my article on Vienna. Still I thought as a taster of what is to come I could share what I did draft, and here it is in all its ahem glory......

Hi all, the ninth Eurobowl recently took place in Vienna and, thanks to my Grandad, I was lucky enough to be invited to join the Welsh team and take part in the tournament. Here are a few random thoughts on the weekend along with a few pictures.

The Austrians were super friendly even to the point that the guard on the Airport to City train (CAT) held the train for me whilst I fannied around with the ticket machine. Vienna is a lovely city and the millenium Tower wherein the tournament took place had some very spectacular views. I do have a couple of whinges ahem 'suggested improvements' but more of that later! Note they can not of been that important as I can not remember them anymore!

By the time I arrived on Friday night my teammates had already started lubricating their vocal chords in preparation for a trip to the karaoke bar. I couldn't find them at first so the team shepherd Da Piranha helpfully came and found me and escorted me to meet them. He said 'We're in Shangri-Las upstairs it's a Hooker bar' to which I replied with something along the lines of 'Oh I'm not sure my wife will be too happy with that'. He looked a little puzzled and then said 'Oh not Hooker bar, Hookah bar!'. Still not really my scene but a lot better!

In Eurobowl you have eight players on each team with up to three players not from your country to help make up the numbers and we had Rockstar a Danish guy on our side. He is, to put it mildly, a bit of a character. He is also the lead singer in a band, hence his NAF nick, and the only person I have ever seen get a standing ovation in a Karaoke bar. Anyway I was feeling a bit rough, a crappy cough that got worse over the weekend and is still hanging around, so I arranged to meet the team the following morning before the tournament and left them to it.

The next morning I arrived at the appointed time and my team turned up a few minutes later looking decidedly the worse for wear. We had been given four ten euro vouchers that could be used anywhere in the millenium tower to buy food or drink. These were supposed to be for the lunch and evening meals on both days of the tournament but unfortunately someone on the team had discovered that the bars also accepted them in payment for beer! I was given my team shirts, along with half of the other nations we had gone for Red as a first day top and then black for the second day which was vaguely amusing. Also a small welsh flag, a Team Wales dice mat and enough Team Wales dice for me to play with and to give a set to my opponents after each game. We struggled upstairs (using the odd lift system) to floor 19 in time to find out we were playing the Freebooters a team of Italians claiming to be from the Isle of Tortuga (not strictly speaking in Europe last time I looked!) all dressed as pirates. My opponent was using Chaos and we had a good game that went back and forth and finished 1-1 I had a chance to win 2-1 but it was a long shot and I needed my ball carrier to survive a rerollable two dice blitz. No tension whatsoever as his first roll was double splat... Still a good competitive but friendly game, bloodbowl at it's best. Overall we had edged a Team win and were very happy.

Next up were Denmark, one of the strongest teams in the tournament and my opponent was using Vampires, these suckers failed two blood lust rolls all game both of which were successfully rerolled! This sort of quality rolling makes Vampires very formidable opponents and he was an excellent player. It wasn't the best tempered of games though and thanks to my runner failing to pick up the ball three turns in a row at the start of the first half, surehands my backside, I needed a second GFI in Turn 16 to grab a second 1-1. The first GFI was made comfortably but the second for over the line was in time honoured tradition a one but I still had a reroll and Nuffle smiled benevolently and granted me a six, I do love seeing those dragons! at this point I stopped writing! I did have a great time although the results were not as good as I could have hoped still they seldom are. I have come back for more though after all :D)

Here are some pictures I took of my remaining opponents although I did not take one of the last one. I have a hazy recollection it was Belgium in a last round virtual play off for the honour of hosting but a drunken incident involving a smashed mouth and blood all over the carpet left me with more to think about!

The latest NAF newsletter (09/10/14), announced that the Road to NAFC Championship 2015, will be hosted by FUMBBL. For those that missed it, last year's Road to NAFC was hosted by Cyanide and the prize was a ticket to the NAFC, in Nottingham - UK, worth 55£.

This will be the first time that NAF will sanction an on-line tabletop resurrection style tournament, and, once again the prize will be the ticket to the NAFC!

Quoting Phil / Purplegoo:

"The Road to the NAFC will be contested over 6 rounds of Swiss competition and will use the same rules as the NAFC.
The Road to the NAFC is set to be the first of ongoing online NAF
sanctioned resurrection style events; hopefully allowing members to
track their progress via a new ‘online variant’ ranking system. For
FUMBBL coaches old and new, this functionality will also be extended to
user organised events similar those already running in the [L]eague
division there.

For anyone that doesn’t know, the NAF Championship
is the biggest tabletop Blood Bowl individual tournament of the year
and one of the five yearly NAF Majors. Held at the East Midlands
Conference Centre in Nottingham, UK, the 2014 running of the tournament
attracted over 170 coaches, and 2015 could be even bigger.

Full details of the Road to the NAFC will be announced later in the
year. In the mean time, please discuss and ask any questions you might
have in the TFF or NAF
forum threads. I’m really looking forward to this form of the game
going digital and the collaboration between FUMBBL and the NAF!"

Sounds like very cool news to me!
Have fun.

Prelude...

While still a bit sorrowful for once again having missed the opportunity to attend to one of my "one day I will" list of favourite big tournaments out there (the NAF Champs), the chance to attend to one of the coolest tournaments in neighbourly Spain presented it self (triggered by Connexion, travel companion for the event and fellow Bilbao landscape strider), and two successful "Go-For-It's" dice rolls after, the decision was made: Bilbao was a GO!

The 'menu' included a two day tournament in Bilbao (a city I've been meaning to visit for a long time, home to quite a few interesting museums and architectural sites such as Guggenheim or the Fine Arts Museum), filled with many, many hours of Blood Bowl, miniatures and dice rolls.

Da Killa Kans

To attend to the tournament I needed a team, and while I do have a some of them ready to go, this was the perfect motivation to get my hands on the job and paint another one. I decided to pick and Orc team I had waiting for ink for more than 10y (GW 3rd Ed. with a few extra positionals either from 2nd Ed. or converted from WFB), and while at it converted a small "Killa Kan" - the turn counter - that may eventually be of some usage as a secret weapon in the future (if the goblin inside it decides to cooperate, that is)...

A little woodwork after, Da Killa Kans had an transport tray (quite useful for tournament environments, I may add), which was reversible during the games to allow painless and noiseless dice throwing (foamy sheet)...

Bilbao and the Casco Viejo (old town)

Arriving at Bilbao the afternoon before the day of the tournament allowed us have a glimpse of the city, going for a walk along the Bilbao Nervión river -visiting Guggenheim museum while at it-, and have a few glasses of cidra while visiting the lovely the Casco Viejo (Note: Despite all other reasons, if you enjoy good food, this really is a good place to visit).

The tournament venue

With only a couple of hours of sleep (against all predictions it was really hot in Bilbao, which coupled with high levels of humidity made it near impossible to do anything else other then drink cider...), we presented ourselves in the gaming hall.

The venue was located in an unused canteen, with plenty of light and space both inside and outside (games could be also be held outside if players wanted and weather allowed), and since it was in a residential area slightly outside the city, it was was very calm and silent.

Despite the general thrill of the tournament the environment was really friendly, and in a few minutes it was time to start putting names into faces that we only knew from the forums (both TFF and BB Foro, it's Spanish counterpart).

Since we both had at least basic knowledge of Catalan we went for the "In Rome be Roman" approach, and despite the obvious and constant "kicks in the grammar", mingling was pretty easy (good will on both parts goes a long way), and so after meeting the organizing crew and a putting some faces into names, we where finally set for the games marathon that was to follow.

Day one games

My first four games of the tournament were true a roller coaster:

a loss by 1-2 against Barry woodies, a win by 2-0 against Kirino (that would later on would win the trophy for most Long Pass/Long Bomb passes of the game with his orcs), a loss 0-2 against Tactel Necros, and finally a win by 1-0 against Nota and his undeads.

pato, bacalao con pimientos. De postre: queso con membrillo y nueces (...)". Keeping up with all those delicacies the (all you can drink) cidra, made a perfect ending for a tiring hot day, (actually, afterwards we did go again to the Casco Viejo to check if there where other brands of cidra, and to taste how good they were...).

Day two games

This time I would be facing a more constant outcome of results: a loss by 2-0 against Gilles Cacciari with his lizardmen, and last but not least another loss by 2-0 against Lordillo with an human team, resulting in a final result of 2-0-4.

Not a good result at all, but considering how Nuffle kept jinxing my dice throws, I really felt there wasn't much more I could have done. (To illustrate what I mean, in the end of a game, one of my opponents pointed out to me that I only managed to roll 3 Pow's during the entire game. Which, while playing Orcs it's not a good thing at all). Other then that, and coming from a league where we use the "4 min. per
turn rule", it sometimes felt a bit awkward having some opponents
constantly taking more than double to finish their plays, but since I
was in such a good mood I wasn't going to make a fuzz about it, so it's
all good.

Tournament round up

A very well run event with a great organization behind it, constantly making sure that everything runned as smoothly as it could. Thumbs up for all of them!

Congratulations to Pakulkan (with Dark Elves) for taking the trophy home, winning every single game during the two days.

As far as Blood Bowl is concerned, for me it turned out to be a great trip to meet other Blood Bowl fanatics, see a lot of lovely converted and painted teams, and while at it make a handful of new gaming friends!

A final word of praise for the Bilbali Cup crew (Thibault, Kafre, Aitor, and all others that I may be missing), for such a great event, and for taking their time to guide everyone on the Casco Viejo pub tour during our stay at Bilbao!
