Sad news for Blood Bowl :(

These are just sad news for the Blood Bowl players around the world  :(

"This is a very special episode of Zlurpcast. No jokes here. We somehow managed to get a former higher up at Games Workshop on the line to tell us the REAL future of the game we all love, Blood Bowl. I’m still in shock how we managed to get this interview. Many have speculated about a new release and/or a new set of rules. What you find out about the future of Blood Bowl in this interview will blow your mind to tiny bits. Listen now, before the Empire forces us to pull it down!"

Zombie vs Zombie: there can be only one (winner)!

One ball.
One pitch.
One match.
Two zombie coaches in the same final!

Later on today Tristan and Paulo (Abraxis) favourite teams are facing each other in the finals of UEFA Europa League (Link to UEFA official live coverage).
Best of luck to them both, and let the "less dead" team win!

Zombie pt.2 - Abraxis

Next up on the dock is Paulo aka Abraxis, winner of the Zlurpcast Meatloaf Fan award.  As soon as I got the bare torso piece off the sprue I knew I had to have Paulo running with his jersey off after just scoring a goal.  I leveled the base with filler as on the other figures and I made a jersey out of a napkin with paint. After painting the zombie and jersey separately I superglued them together.  I also used an extra coat of painted varnish to try and give the jersey some strength before I gave the whole figure a spray coat of varnish.
zombie Paulo
In case you are unaware, Paulo's favourite football team is Benfica, so it's very appropriate I am posting this today, as both his team and mine are in the second leg of the Europa League semi-finals tonight.  Chelsea have a 2-1 lead and are playing at home, while Benfica are looking to reverse the tie (currently 1-0 for Fenerbahçe) and are also playing at home - the Stadium of Light.  Good luck to Benfica tonight, with any luck we will have a Benfica/Chelsea final in Amsterdam and we might all use skype to hang out while we watch the match!

"2 weeks" left - GHAG contest photo reminder!!

2 weeks is in quotes - since I think it's actually a bit longer than that.  But I wanted to get a post up to remind everyone that their goblin PHOTO is due by April 1st, 2012. The actual figure doesn't need to have been received but the photo must be emailed to Abraxis (almightyabraxis [at] gmail [dot] com)

Don't worry about timezone's or anything like that - we aren't that strict.  If you have any questions or need his address or anything feel free to email Abraxis about that as well.

Every figure that has arrived has been updated in the original post with the text "TOUCHDOWN".

Thanks everyone for making this contest a rousing success!!

The GHAG "overdrive" mini-contest...

Well - the response to this contest has blown away all my expectations - it's nothing short of incredible.  I can't believe how many generous folk are out there getting involved with this MMN gobbo team; many thanks, muito obrigado, merci beaucoup, stort tack, muchos gracias, and ta!

In saying that - I would LOVE to get a few more entrants to really complete the team.  Should fortune smile so much we have more people that want to enter than pieces, I'm sure duplicates of secret weapons and duplicates/combinations of mutations would be acceptable - as would obviously additional goblins!  We won't turn anyone away regardless of what mini they want to submit.

So here it is, pretty simple...

Post a photo of your goblin (WIP or finished, but should have some paint!) along with a link to the main contest post (aka THIS LINK) on your blog, twitter, facebook, NAF, TFF, FUMBBL, whatever...
WIP Looney

THEN post a link to that update in the comments below...  you can only get one "raffle entry" but are free to post your update in as many places as you like!

Everyone who does so will be entered in a raffle for some little blood bowl prizes I have laying around (once you win a prize, your name will be removed "from the hat") - to keep up the suspense I will update this post with some teaser pics where you can't really see the entire prize.

This mini-contest will end in two weeks, on Monday February 27th.

the "Give him a Goblin" contest

My harlequins "painted by others" seemed to really inspire Abraxis, it was the first thing he'd painted in a looong time (in addition to the orc blood bowl counter) and since he has painted two whole blood bowl teams - dwarves & undead. He loved the idea of each harlequin painted by someone different, and wanted something similar himself.

We discussed it so much he came up with the idea of a "give him a goblin" blood bowl team. A single goblin - painted, isn't too much to ask. Axt begged to have the fanatic and I have pieces to convert a looney. We could think of a couple people who might have been interested but that would only get him half a team. So I thought of a contest and we needed a significant prize on offer to really tempt people into entering. I have offered up a print of a piece my fiance commissioned for my birthday, which features two of my blood bowl teams duking it out! I will get this piece signed by the artist. Check it out on his blog here.

As a runner up prize he has generously offered a coupon for a deal on a commission of your own.

The coupon has been determined to be $25 off your own commission. They are somewhat expensive, but could be nice for a gaming group to band together to get a nice piece for their FLGS!

Quick Summary
Paint a blood bowl goblin and mail it to Abraxis - submit a photo and whoever's raffle is picked will win the prize.

Rules
1. be a follower of Merry Mayhem News.
2. leave a comment below to which player you want to paint.
3. paint the goblin, team colours are black & gold, leave the base for Abraxis.
4. submit a photo of your completed/painted goblin by April 1st 2012.
5. mail your goblin to Abraxis.

Voting & Prize Draw
there will be a period of 10 days of voting for "best painted" goblin, at the end of the voting, whoever is voted the winner will receive a print of the above piece, with the exception of myself (hahahaha) or Axt.

Axt suggested that we raffle the prize off among all the entries instead of best painted so everyone has an equal chance to win the prize(s) - I think this is a good idea and even's the playing field. Naturally we are excluded from winning the prize.

A thought occurs - perhaps we could make the second prize (the coupon) go to the "best painted" so you'd have a reason (other than being nice) for trying to do a good job... Let me know what you think.

FUMBBL me...

...been playing FUMBBL and...i think its awesome, especially if you dont have Cyanide´s Blood Bowl like me....and i mean an original copy here...lolol.

My most active team (2 games) is the HairyMidgets (Dwarfs)...i´ve lost the 2 games,2-0 both, against Undead and Chaos, lost a blocker wich turned into a zombie and in 32 turns,i´ve rolled between 15 and 20 skulls...

Nuffle hates me so much ^^

Anyway,im having lots of fun,so,if you play FUMBBL,add me to your buddy list...my user name is AlmightyAbraxis...

I do roll LOTS of skulls ;)
