Douglas and Max #2: for Mike!

 How say, boys? Been awhile...

I hope everyone had a good summer. seems like I was just sitting in the heat 2 days ago, LOL!
Well, its tourney time in our little corner of pa. we are getting set for the Mike Kriger Memorial CUP, on Saturday October 31st. it will be held at the Nesquehoning rec center, from 10am until its done.

This year, we will have the new set of "wild things" models, Douglas and Max#2. New figures are always fun, and we are very proud of these new figures from ace miniature man, Rykar. He did a great job bringing these monsters to life.

By now, most here know the story about our event and the figures we have bought to the game. my cousin mike, was killed in the fighting in Afghanistan. He was my best friend, and he was a founding member of our gaming group, The Thursdaynight Hero's. To say that his death left a hole in many peoples lives would be an understatement. Mike was a kind person, always ready to help a friend as well as a stranger. he sadly left behind a wife and little girl.
This year, we are hoping to surpass the $300 mark with donations to the Wounded Warrior Fund. this organization is set up to help our vets who may need help. Services like mental and physical therapy, service dogs, housing, and things like that.
We know mike would be proud.

If you'd like more info on our event, please feel free to contact me. Our tourney is for beginners, so don't expect "NAF" level game play, but the point of the event is just to play blood bowl and have fun doing it.
If you can't make it, and would like a set of these limited miniatures, they are $20usd per set, and a portion of the sales go to the Wounded Warrior Fund.
I only wish we could do more, or I wish I could give one of those big fake checks, just for the LULZ!

Remember "Carol & Max"?

Do you?

Almost one year and a half ago, here in Merry Mayhem News blog, we started a couple articles featuring Bound For Glory bloodbowl tourney, the "Mike Krieger memorial Cup", and the lovely set of limited edition miniatures that he and his crew (The Thursday Night Heroes) have put together for the event: here, and here!

The selling of those, aside from helping funding the tourney, also had the grand objective of providing a donation to be handed over to the pa's fallen soldier fund.
(I obviously could not pass the opportunity to have a go at painting this such exquisite pair too - here - besides I reeeeeeeally loved the movie).

So what's new, you may ask?
As promised back then by BFG, and once again with the help of Rykar (the sculptor), they have another set "on the forge".
This time it's "Doug", the big guy who gets the (well deserving) spotlight, but rest assured that he will also have the company of Max (and yes, a differently sculpted version of our little friend "Max").

Here's a photo of their greens, as found on the "wild thing #2 coming soon" post in TFF.

Too cool to be truth?
By all means, click on the thread link above and go check it out your self!

And yes, start putting a few coins aside to get them when they get out, they deserve it!

We can't go back

My mom passed almost a year ago. Cancer.
As my mother was living with my sister and brother in law before she passed, she had put quite a bunch of my kid stuff in storage along with things from my brother and sisters childhood. You know, grade cards, pictures, art, that kind of thing.
All this was returned to me last summer. I just this last weekend got around to looking through it.
I found a big box of my old role playing stuff. D&D started it all for me, in 1977. A bunch of RPG games followed. Too many to list. There were books maps, the odd dice, bunch of other stuff.

I also found what I believe is my groups first blood bowl league roster. The date says 1989, so 2nd Ed 18 teams, not too shabby for a 2nd Ed league, huh?
When I look over the roster, I think back to a bunch of good times. and a bunch of good friends who, for whatever reason, are no longer in my life.
Who could forget Billy "dumb dumb" Degrote? He's the guy who gave us the club name "The Thursday Night Heros". Or Shawn N. who just disappeared one day? Or Shawn L. who joined the army, and for some reason never contacted any of us again? I had a falling out with John K. who was, for a while my best friend. We went on a road trip and when we got back, his parents had a) decided to get a divorce and b) John had to move away with his father. That was a tough one.
Bob Wagner was another dear friend. He was into the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I loved Judge Dredd. We both loved punk music. We went to shows and we were always in a fight with someone at a gig (we were both skinheads). We would drive far and wide in serch of a cool game store or music shop. Comics, too. I just found his phone number online and I called him. We planned on getting together for a game of Bloodbowl (he hadn't played since 2nd Ed.), but I live about 90 minutes for him and he has a big family that takes up a lot of his time.
And many more. Phil, Scott, Berny, Joe...

I guess I'm getting old. I for some reason find myself thinking of those guys. When getting together on a Friday or Saturday night and playing some game until the wee hours was a great time. Even the guys who were only in our gang for a short time, I think I miss them, too. It could be, that life has gotten me down this last year. I lost my job due to an injury at work. Maybe because my sons cancer has returned. Maybe because I don't see my brother and sisters much. I don't know...
Life gets away from us. I sometimes have a strong desire to look these old friends up, contact them and tell them I miss them, but that's kinda weird, right? So i won't. But I want to, before we all get too old.

What to do with asshats?

As I've said here many times, I love the game of blood bowl and just about everything to do with it.
I belong to a very successful league, THE THURSDAY NIGHT HEROS, which is composed of guys I've known since I was a kid. Just a big bunch of friends that play 2 leagues twice a year. We mess around a bunch, but theres no cheating.

When ever we can, we get more people to join up. Sometimes it causes trouble. Like Chris...
Chris is a guy we've known since our D&D days. He's a bit of a pain. He has played in our league a few times in the past. He always quits when his team starts doing bad. He tries to cheat sometimes, and he is not above "miscalculating" his roster.
Well, he talked me into allowing him back in our club, and after last night, I'd say his chances of rejoining us is nil. Here's what happened.

My chaos team, the Deathvalley Destroyers, where playing his dark elf team, The Kill Machine. we had been forced to play extra time, due to a very close game, tied 1-1.
My minotaur, Blight Headsmasher, had gotten very lucky, and grabed a loose ball and had to make a dodge to get past one of his lineman. I rolled a 6, and Blight barrelled on towards the goal line.
It's now chris's turn, and he sends his blitzer after my mino.
I was nervously playing with a dice and just as he was going to roll for a 2nd go-for-it roll to catch my mino, I dropped the dice I was playing with. I bent down to retrieve the missing die, when he rolled his go for it roll. I then got up and his purple dice was showing "6". he said "success!". My wife was sitting there watching, and she said ,"It was a 1". I looked at him and said "What did you roll?" he just gave me a weird smile. I told him to reroll, and he picked up the die and he rolled a 1 again. He started to bitch...
I then said, "I was gonna just win this game, but now I guess I will just destroy your team, which I proceeded to do. I lost the game, but his team is ruined.

I don't like being cheated. I play our game because I love the game.
I won't play with rules lawyers and I won't play with power gamers.
My wife does'nt lie. I gave him the chance to say "just kidding" or "you got me", but he tried to cheat.
That does'nt float in our friendly league, so what I'd like to do is give chris the giant foot in the ass, but I'd rather get him to stop cheating.

We have 18 players in our league, not counting Chris, everybody gets along well, and we've had to ask people not to come back. But what to do with a guy you've know for 15 years?
Guess I'll have to think on it...

A sad comment on our community...

I'm old school.
Well, maybe not so much old school, but certainly old.
I was told, when I was asked to write here, to write what I feel, and to be honest, to tell it like it is, I do that. Sometimes I get s**t from others for doing it, but sometimes the truth (as I see it) hurts.

For those of you who run tourneys, you know how hard it is.
Everything to do with it is hard. I have found that:

1) Finding a venue.
As I'm in a small town, there is only one suitable place, besides trying to squeeze everybody into my basement. That’s the town rec hall. Its roomie, has plenty of nice tables and chairs, and very clean rest rooms.
But the hall is pricy, and they just raised the price this year.

2) Advertisement
Putting notice on line is free, and many very kind people I have met through blood bowl boards have offered to put the word out on sites I had not visited. But I also put notices in the local, and not so local, game/hobby/model shops by way of signup sheets, advertisements, etc. That’s also free, but driving there is not. I'm far from most of these shops, and since I broke my back I haven’t driven so my wife does the driving, and that’s on her time. And gas is only getting more expensive these days.

3) Having enough... of EVERYTHING!
And this includes BLOCK DICE. I have 60+ block dice, which, not to call anyone a thief, I come up short a few after every tourney. I could use plain old 6 sided dice instead of block dice, but I want people to have the whole BB experience. Call me an idiot.
PITCHES
After looking at my Impact! green felt pitch, my wife got in her head to make pitches for our event. Without telling me, she went out one Saturday morning, got some yards of nice, blueish-green felt, a T-square, and a bunch of paint markers, and while I was up in bed sleeping in, she made the first of 30 hand made no frills pitches.
They are very nice and I'm very proud of her work.
TEMPLATES
This year, instead of having my club mates hand over their templates for the event, my wife and I are going to make a bunch of sets. I have to get on this, as its almost time...
DICE
I have this covered, considering I've been gaming since 1977 (I have about 100+ d6, about 40+ d8, and about 20+d16), and I have a bag of over 400+ dice of all kind. But again, many of these commons go missing at each event...
DRINKS/ SNACKS/ PIZZA.
Doms Pizza will be donating the pies again this year, so no cost there. But I pay for the soda and the snacks for the event. That puts me back about $50. I get some of the cost back from the $10 entry fee, but when the rec hall fee is factored in, not much.
AND ANYTHING ELSE I FORGOT...

What’s my point here?
Every year except this 2013 (I finally learned my lesson), I have emailed all the miniature fantasy football producers and asked for a donation of any size. I am not proud. I would be very grateful to receive one figure, if that’s all they could provide. Heck, I would gladly pay shipping costs for that one miniature.
I’ve explained what our event is, size wise. I have told these producers about my cousin Mike, and how he was unfortunately killed in Afghanistan. How much Mike loved the game of blood bowl and how much mike was loved. How I pay, out of my own pocket, for most of the costs of the event.
Count on your fingers how many bb/ff companies you can name. Don’t count games workshop, as they are a lost cause, LOL.

Do you know, the only companies that help our event are GASPEZ ARTS, WILLY, and IMPACT!?
Every other company I contacted either refused outright, or ignored my emails. Some telling me our event was too small to support (they did not expect any business from their support), or because we are not NAF supported, they would not donate a prize.
Most of the support we receive is from my friends: glowworm, East Coast Quake, all the guys from Spain. Friends!

It saddens me that most of these companies would not even take a moment to email me and tell me no… what does that say about these companies? I understand the world economy is terrible. I get that, but how much does it cost to email me?
Or to put a figure in a envelope and do a good thing for a good cause?
Are they too ashamed to say "I am too cheap to support your memorial event dedicated to a friend and cousin killed in a war”?
It’s a sad comment about these companies...

We need some help...

As many here know, I've been running a tourney every October in honour of my cousin, who was killed in Afghanistan.
I had gotten a pair of figures, Carol and Max (here), made for the event.
I'll be honest here. The figures have not been selling well, and even with very positive reviews, from the people on TFF, they haven't sold.
I need to pay the balance of the rent on the hall, and I have this on my shoulders (as some of you might know, I broke my back in 2 places and I'm limited in what I can do).
Please guys, buy some of my figures. the new price is $12 USD (plus shipping). I still have a bunch left (please check the thread in Talk Fantasy Football forum).

They are very nice figures, and its a good cause!
I do this event to honour my cousin Mike, and all the heroes in Afghanistan. I wish I could do more...

As my boy would say... "FAIL!"

As my boy would say... "FAIL!"
My Wild Thing figures, Carol and Max, are pretty much sitting in the big box rykar sent me.
I sold about 9 (9 out of 50).
We get about 20 players in our tourney. Everyone will get a set, but I'm starting to think my idea of having the wild things on the pitch isn't very popular with the BB community.
When I told my mother about my idea, she smiled and said "thats cool".
She was always there when we had painting nights. My mom painted ceramics, and had fun doing it.
I remember her going to Saturday morning classes for painting ceramics. One Saturday, I stopped over and had my own paints, brushes and a primed blood bowl figure (a mino).
In minutes, the women were ohing and ahing over my miniature!

My mother died on march 26th, 2013. She never got to see Carol and Max, from the book my mom and dad read me about a million times, from the book I read to my son about a million times, the book with the monsters that me and my beloved cousin, Mike , thought would be great BB players.

Mike died in a small village in Afghanistan. He never got to see carol and max.
I'm not trying to be negative here, but its tough for me to know where these ideas came from, and the people who helped me through some tough times who would have been tickled pink to see Carol and Max on the pitch, are gone.
No matter what, I will continue with the wild things, and if no one buys them, I don't mind.
At the end of the day, the figures give me good memories of some people I loved: my mom, my dad and Mike. I wish you could have come home to us, Mike. I miss you.

Limited edition Max and Carol!

Remember Max and Carol from Where Wild Things Are book and movie?

Well, almost a month ago our blog mate BFG shared with us a picture of the greens of Max and Carol, and told us how they where to be used promoting a Blood Bowl tourney, the "Mike Krieger memorial Cup" (check it in this LINK).

Both miniatures painted by Misses BFG.

With a limited cast of 50 of each (sold together), the figures are made from pewter (37 and 17mm respectively), and are sculpted by Rykar, who will also be sculpting a new 'monster' from the book every year.
Each set (with both figures) costs 25USD plus shipping, and aside from helping funding their tourney, a donation will be given to the pa's fallen soldier fund.

Either because you loved the book/movie, want to help out their BB community runing the tourney, want to give a hand at the fallen soldiers fund (and while at it grab a pretty cool prize), or just love those fine looking miniatures, give those guys a hand and get a set of those for your self!

You can pm directly BFG for this, or for any other details (such as combined postage or so), via Talk Fantasy Football forum, in this thread, or just leave a comment with a contact adress and I'm sure he'll be more than happy to contact you personaly!
And hurry up, 50 copies where made...

I wanna get something off my chest

My friend Jonas got me into gaming. One June afternoon we were sitting around his house wondering what to do, when Jonas said "we could try to figure out my dungeons and dragons game". He had the early book, and I grabbed it and I was hooked.

That was a Friday, iirc. Jonas let me take his D&D book home to learn the rules so we could play.
I waited for my father to get home at 5pm. when he got home, I said "Dad, there’s this new game, and they have the stuff over at Hobby Hangout. They close at 6, can we go?", as he was still very proud of the fact that I got 4 A's and 2 B's, he said "OK, we can go over as long as we're back before dinner".
And we went. Hobby Hangout was right across the river and within 5 miles. My dad bought me a bunch of stuff that night; dice, the rule books, but no lead figures!!! He said I should see if I like the game first. If I liked it, he'd bring me back the next Friday for some figures.
We loved D&D. When my dad took me the next Friday, I bought a load of figures. That was the start of my figure collecting. I remember sitting at our kitchen table with my friends Jonas, Jason and Shawn. We used the testors paint that used turpentine to clean brushes. It didn’t matter. We were bad painters but by the fall, we had gotten better and neater.
We went to Hobby Hangout for all our gaming needs, they were very much on top of the role playing hill; they had it all. The owners, Phil and Dianne, were old hippies but they were nice to us they would ask what we were painting, and ask us to bring in some painted figures. They were interested and looking back, they were cool people.
In 1982, they moved their store about 10 miles from my house. We couldn’t ride our bikes or walk to hobby hangout anymore.
My grandmother gave us the idea to take the bus, this was better than bugging our moms and dads when they got home from work.

One rainy fall Saturday, me and Jason got the bus and went to Hobby Hangout. I had picked up a few blister packs of, iirc, goblins and bugbears and as I was paying for my monsters, Dianne said "PHIL! CALL THE POLICE! THIS KID IS STEALING!" I looked around, and she had my friend Jason by the arm, oh s@$t.
Phil, the owner, was more laid back about things. he said "put it back and leave", but his wife wasn’t having it. She demanded Phil call the police so he did...
The police came and took Jason and me to the police headquarters. I didn’t take anything, but the cop took me because I was with my friend. When we got to the HQ, the chief of police said to me "did you take anything?" I said no. I suppose he believed me, as he didn’t ask me again, or search me.
Turns out, Jason attempted to steal a 20 sided dice. That was it.
The chief called Jason’s mom, and she came and took us home. Jason told all who were interested that I had nothing to do with the "theft".
I stopped going to Hobby Hangout after that. I guess I was too embarrassed. In fact, I didn’t go back there until 1992. Of course I was driving by then. I remember going in and Phil would just kinda look at me in a strange way. Not watching me like a hawk, not watching like he expected me to steal something. It was weird.
At that point in time (1991-1995), I was painting historicals, bloodbowl figures, early 40k stuff, etc. Hobby Hangout didn’t sell figures at this point in time but they did sell POLY-S paints, which I loved. If they were still made, I’d be using them, so I stopped by every so often for paint.
And Phil ALWAYS gave me that weird look and he never made small talk with me.

After about 1995, I stopped going to Hobby Hangout. A pretty good hobby shop opened in my town, with friendly people and great gaming. Hobby Hangout and Phil and Dianne were forgotten.
Two years ago, I got word that Hobby Hangout was going out of business everything must go.
I planned on going. Not for anything they had (all the gaming stuff was sold off years before. they still had poly-s paint, but I really didn’t need paint (I had about 120+ paints ). but I wanted to get something off my chest.
I wanted to thank Phil. Thank him? Yes.
I wanted to tell him I had nothing to do with my friends attempted theft of that dice. I wanted to say thanks for keeping me away from drugs by introducing me to the world of Dungeons and Dragons.
I would play that game and others every Friday and Saturday, all night, 6pm to 5am every weekend. I wanted to say how sorry I was that his shop was closing after all those years. I wanted to tell Phil I had good memories of my father and I going to his store and buying the D&D figures that I loved painting!

My wife and I went down to Hobby Hangout  on a rainy Saturday morning. The rainy weather was very much like the day Jason and I were taken to the Palmer Police headquarters on the way, I told my wife the story.
We got there and I walked around looking for Phil, but I didn’t see him or Dianne. I asked a young lady about Phil. she told me Phil had passed away 4 months before.

My cousin Mike.

For the 4th year, our club, The Thursday Night Heros, will be putting on our tourney in honour of our friend, and my cousin, Mike. Three years ago, Mike was killed in Afghanistan. He has left behind a wife and little girl. and a lot of people who loved him.
Tho I have a brother, I've always considered Mike my second brother and best friend.
We were about the same age, and we had a lot of common interests: gaming, hockey, punk and hardcore music, and Blood Bowl. Always Blood Bowl.

Mike played Amazons and played them well. He was one of the founders of our club, and our league winners get to take home the Mike Kriger memorial cup until the next season.
He is remembered as a dear friend, always helpful, always friendly.
We run the event on the last Saturday of October. This year we are looking for a new hall due to the fact that the price of the town hall has gone up, and also the place is a little small. We have a pair of figures I commissioned for the event and for sale.

The figures are Carol and Max from the book WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE.
Mike and I had talked a lot about getting the monsters from the book made into Blood Bowl figures. I must say they came out very nice. Big thanks to Rykar and my friend Simon for all the help!
I'm happy to run the event for Mike and the other pa. fallen soldiers (we take donations for the fund).
I think its important to honour these men and women who give so much to guard our freedom and protect us.
I think Mike would be proud.
I hope he knows his friends and family still remember him.

My pile of insanity

As I'm off work (possibly forever), I've been going through my blood bowl collection.
Kinda for the "remember when" thing, but really, just to catalogue what I have and what I want.

Its a big collection, as I have mentioned here in a recent article and its gotten bigger. I buy bb/ff figures a few times a month. Sometimes just a figure or two, sometimes a team. As its my only hobby (well, that's not exactly true, I have an AK I shot at the local range), my wife gives me no trouble over it, and in fact, she's a fine painter. But I find myself asking why I have all these figures.
As of 4/4/13, the collection stands at 1357 blood bowl/fantasy football figures. as of this post (4/9/13), I have, due for delivery, a team from Gaspez Arts (rats), and four figures from Goblin Forge.
I paint every day, but the collection is only about half painted. I have a GW Human and GW Orc team on the painting desk, and they are almost done (another 2 days), and my wife is painting a Shadowforge evil elf female team.

The problem is, it seems there are new teams/figures released every week, and I don't even collect sideline figures (no coaches, cheerleaders, etc), just players. I have over 40 big guys, about 160 Star Players, and a crazy number of secret weapons...
Dice? I have 50+ block dice (I had more, but I sold 30 GW block dice to a club in Canada).
And I have 12 pitches... Funny thing tho, I had to order a range ruler from Impact! last week because I seem to have lost mine. I can play the game without the ruler, but why should I?
I could say I'm gonna stop buying bb/ff figures, but I like the hobby, I like teaching new people the game, and I'm happy I can loan teams to new people who join our club.
These days, teams are a lot of money, and if I can loan a noob a team, maybe he will enjoy the game enough to buy his team for the next league.
I think I will try to be more choosy with what I buy. I've already stopped buying female teams/figures, and I suppose I could cut down on big guys and stars.
I'll try, at any rate.
At least I'm not a drunk...

Snotlings? Really?

I made a chaos team, the Death Valley Destroyers, to play my best friend Rich.
I'm suffering with a broken back (in 2 places) and Rich came over to have a game and cheer me up, problem was, he bought his snotling team...
Now, what you think of as a ogre team with snotlings, and what rich is tinkering with, a snotling team, are very different animals.

The team, as it appeared in Citadel Journal, is 0-4 Trolls and Snotlings.
I don't remember how the roster entry is worded, but the snots have the ORIGINAL titchy rule, i.e. after placing the first 11 on the pitch, roll 1d6-1 EXTRA Snots.
That's potentially a lot of the little green buggers.
Now, I like "unofficial" rosters. I think, as long as they are balanced (I know, I know), the more the merrier.
That being said, this snotling team is tough. and no mistake.
I won't go through a play by play, because that's not the point of this blog post (and I lost), but I'll give you a few highlights.

I kicked to rich on the first turn.
He used 3 Trolls and 8 Snots. Then he rolled for the EXTRA snots and got a 6, so 5 more on the pitch for a total of 11. Even at ST 1, that's a lot of the little pains.
His Trolls didn't do much but stand around and pick their noses, but Rich threw a 3 die block against my mino and not only he went down, he got KO'd. You read that right!
He did'nt even attempt to cage up. and since he rolled pretty good for extra snots most of the game, he just flooded my backfield with the snots, so I was dodging a lot (and failing a lot).

The final result was 3-1 and it was'nt even close. Too many dodges, and there are rules for "pogo snots" that he did'nt use. That may have given him even more touchdowns.
It was a fun game, but I don't know about how the snot team would hold up in league play.
They break easy, but cost little.

Star payers. I love them!

I love star players in the game of blood bowl. My gaming club, "The Thursday Night Heroes", love star players. Yeah, I know the stars are not that hip these days, but I think they add another layer of fluff and fun to our game.

When the 2nd edition hit the game stores, our club started to take the league a lot more seriously. By that, I don't mean ‘win at all costs’, or ‘find the best star on the list and get him’, what I mean is, we started to run our league twice a year and it got to be quite the ‘game about town’. At our peak, we had about 30-35 coaches vying for the "old tin jug".
We had new faces at the start of every season (we always play set format like the NHL/NFL, none of this ‘lets see who turns up’, nonsense), and it got to the point that we were using the town rec hall because the FLGS or our basements were not big enough, no brag, fact. The GW supply guy at our FLGS said we ran the biggest league on the east coast of the US in the years 1995-98.

These days, we have between 15-22 players each season (now in our 36th). We have a bunch of things most leagues don't; between game stuff, star players, trades etc. We have a file index with about 225 star players. These are from many sources: the 'net, official GW sources, home grown stars etc, you get the idea. They are all pointed as per JJ's formula, and they are bought for a team sorta like 3rd edition, you buy the player and he's yours until:

-he gets killed
-he gets an injury and he’s released
-he's traded
-some between game mayhem gets in the way

Once that star is chosen, as he’s unique, he plays for your team until one of the above...

As our league doesn’t play teams past the current season, the stars are put back in the pool before the next season. It’s been working for very nearly 22 years. I see them as a part of the game. The stars don't over balance the game as they can fall victim just like a common lineman. I have found that most coaches are very vocal about NOT using star players. Broken, is the cool way of describing stars. For the life of me, I just don't see how a Star Player bothers Blood Bowl. I  mean to say, you have x amount of gold to buy y (players, rerolls, apoth, cheerleaders, etc). If I ‘waste’ gold on a star player, yeah, he’s got a bunch of "plusses", but he can't advance and he’s a "spp" sink. He’s also just as fragile as any non star player. I’ve had a star player killed on turn 2 of game 1 in one of our seasons.

Anyway, we like them. Now, if I could just get people to help me get a painted figure for each of our stars. Out of about 225, we have, in our club (which means my massive collection, mostly) about 150 already painted. I try to get a few more done every month.

So many bb/ff figures, so few dollars...

My favorite part of Blood Bowl is the miniatures.
I remember when first ed. came out, I said to a friend, we should look for figures we can convert to this game, so we did. Most of these early attempts at replacing the card stand-ups with miniatures are (thankfully) long gone, but I still have the converted minotaur, Blight Headsmasher, and King Tough, a mummy, and a few more.
At last count, I have 1209 blood bowl/fantasy football figures. I collect just about everything. The only thing I don't buy is side line staff (coaches, cheerleaders, apothecaries). I do buy ref figures, and I’m hoping someone makes some rules for them.
As I’m commish of a big league, I am always ready to loan out a team. The only request I make to the borrower, is paint the team, if its one of my many unpainted teams. If the borrower isn’t a painter, I’ll ask what color he wants the team, and I paint it (I’m not the fastest painter, but I’ll get it done in a week or so).
As my collection is getting bigger by the week (I sometimes buy figures every week, sometimes just one figure, sometimes a full team) I have cut down on some things.
I won't buy another Amazon team no more females, period. Big titties are nice in real life, but I’ve had it with bb figures. As I have about 50 big guys, I have to cut them off as well. Well, maybe not big guys, but...

I’m also the dice guy in our club (the Thursday Night Heroes), as I have about 50 block dice. GW doesn’t sell cheap block dice anymore (they had them for 50 cents each for the longest time but now, they are sold out). In fact, my block dice collection was almost at 100, but I sold 50 to some club in Canada, this was BEFORE I knew GW USA had run out of the white block dice. All I ask is they are returned after game day (Saturday, tho with a club named Thursday Night Heroes, you'd think we played on Thursday night, right? More on the heroes later).
We've been a game club since 1984. We are mostly a miniature wargames club, but we play blood bowl twice a year. We play a very modified 3rd ed. we make a team, and retire the team after the season. This way, we don't have to bother with high tv vs low tv. everybody starts their team at the same tv.
The most important rule rules our league. Everybody is there to have a good time. I think a lot of people forget this. We've had to ask certain people to not play in our league. Sad but true.
But its a good time league, and if that’s important to you, you are welcome to look us up.
